Warranty Coverage on Labour / Installation
Just Skylights offers a comprehensive warranty on the installation of your skylight. This warranty covers defects in workmanship and the proper installation of the skylight as outlined in the installation agreement.

Warranty Duration
The warranty period for installation is 10 years from the date of installation, provided the skylight remains in its original location and is used according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

What is Covered

• Defects in installation, including leaks, poor sealing, or any other issues arising from the work performed by Just Skylights.
• Malfunctions caused by improper installation affecting the functionality of the skylight.

What is Not Covered

• Damage caused by misuse, accidents, or external forces such as storms, hail, or other weather-related events.
• Issues arising from the skylight itself, including manufacturer defects, unless the product is still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty (see Manufacturer’s Warranty).
• Normal wear and tear.
• Modifications, repairs, or tampering done by parties other than Just Skylights or its authorized agents.

Weather Events and Ice Dams
This warranty does not cover damage caused by weather-related events, including, but not limited to:

• Storms, hail, high winds, or freezing temperatures.
• Ice dams (accumulation of melting and re-freezing snow causing leaks).

Note: It is the homeowner’s responsibility to take measures to prevent ice dams, such as ensuring proper attic insulation, ventilation, and regular roof maintenance.

Condensation
Condensation is a natural occurrence that can form on skylights due to temperature fluctuations and humidity levels inside the home. It is not covered under this warranty.

This includes:

• Internal humidity levels exceeding recommended home levels.
• Inadequate ventilation in the attic or skylight installation area.
• Improper use of humidifiers or other moisture-producing activities.
• Failure to maintain appropriate insulation and airflow.

Tip: Homeowners should manage humidity and ventilation to prevent condensation-related issues.

Manufacturer’s Warranty
The skylight itself is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty documentation for coverage details regarding defects in materials and functionality.

Manufacturer Warranty Details (VELUX Canada)

Skylights and Roof Windows

• 20 Years: Coverage against seal failure (moisture between glass panes).
• 10 Years: Protection for defective parts on skylights, roof windows, and flashings.
• 10 Years: Warranty against cracking or breakage due to hail for laminated glass with Neat® coating.

Sun Tunnel Skylights

• 10 Years: Coverage for defective parts, rust corrosion, and deterioration.

Electrical Systems & Sun Screening Accessories

• 5 Years: Warranty for defective parts on electrical systems and sun screening accessories.

Commercial Skylights

• 5 Years: Coverage for defective parts on commercial skylights.

VELUX Installation Warranty

• 10 Years: Covers correct skylight and flashing installation against leaks, regardless of the installer.

Provide the following information:

• Proof of purchase and installation date.
• Description of the issue and how it relates to installation.
• Photos or documentation supporting your claim (if available).

Just Skylights will assess the situation and determine if the issue is covered. If applicable, repairs will be scheduled at no additional cost, or an appropriate remedy will be provided.

Limitation of Liability
The maximum liability of Just Skylights under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the skylight installation work.

This warranty does not cover:

• Consequential or incidental damages, including property damage, personal injury, or loss of use.

Transferability
This warranty is transferable to new owners of the property where the skylight is installed.

To transfer the warranty, the new homeowner must notify Just Skylights within 90 days of the transfer of ownership.

Exclusions
This warranty does not cover any damage or defects arising from:

• Improper maintenance, neglect, or failure to follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.
• Modifications or repairs made by the homeowner or a third party.
• Natural disasters, fire, vandalism, or other acts of God.
• Ice dams or damage caused by snow or ice accumulation.
• Condensation issues due to high humidity, inadequate ventilation, or improper use.
